Spring Snowstorm

We got to fully experience a wicked spring storm this year! It started snowing and blowing on Friday night (April 29) and didn't stop until Saturday night. And it only happened in really specific areas - even Yorkton didn't get hit as hard as Saltcoats! Thankfully, it all disappeared in a couple days.
At least the door swings in...

And that would be 3 feet of snow on our driveway. Thanks to Ron for snowblowing for us!

Videos

Carli pointed out that Jacob seems unlikely to possess a green thumb based on his crying episode when posed with flowers. Other evidence can be found in his lack of enthusiasm for simply sitting in the grass. However, gardener Katie might change his mind yet!

Happy Easter!

Thankfully spring arrived with Easter or it would have seemed a bit strange to me. With Katie now being old enough to craft a bit more on her own, Dean bought an egg decorating kit. I decided to forgo permanently stained fingers and dyed the eggs during naptime. She helped with the stickers though. She is much more keen on the idea of an egg hunt (especially after watching her Dora movie about the egg hunt. Thanks Grandma W.!).

Is this really supposed to taste like this???

Teddy is included in the fun, as always.

On Good Friday, we drove to Saskatoon to visit with family for the weekend. We saw aunts, uncles, cousins, grandmas and a grandpa. The kids were lively and friendly with everyone and mostly in good spirits.
We call this one "Crying in the Crocuses"

Katie had a blast playing in the back yard at Carol and Lil's. She jumped in the dirt, dug like a dog, planted berries and generally got dirty. Everything a lively three-year old should be doing!

Jacob was a little more suspicious of sitting in the grass. He tried eating it but found grass lacking. Especially that dry, brown winter grass. Perhaps he will enjoy fresh green stuff better?

The weekend wouldn't have been complete without an egg hunt. Katie was the star of that show and managed to find more chocolate eggs that anyone needs with the help of several adults. She was sweet enough to share with Jacob (though, only the plastic ones!).

The BIG BUNNY!!!

Quite the haul!

Hmmm, she's not looking, what can I take?

Random

We have been putting up pictures around the house. When Katie sees a picture of Dean and I (pre-kids) she tells me that she and Jacob are hiding behind our backs. I think it's pretty cute. I guess I think most of the things she does are pretty cute though! Her other favourite saying of the moment is "Don't do it!" usually in response to me asking her to do something, ha ha ha.

Jacob has finally progressed from crawling backwards to dragging himself forwards. However, during the backwards days, he often got wedged under the couch. One day, Katie decided to join him so they could watch tv together.

Grandma and Grandpa Woelk went to Disneyworld and sent the kids some cute stuff. Sure enough I had to dress them up and take pictures! I wanted to see Jacob standing so had Katie 'holding' him. He looks annoyed because she dropped him three times before I was quick enough to get a picture!

Jacob has learned to clap his hands! Love it! Of course, big sister always wants to help. I hope they continue to adore each other in a few months as much they do now.

For breakfast, I split a banana and some toast between the kids. Jacob gobbles his up, while Katie continues to live on air and eats about a third of what he does.

Today's chuckle

Katie took the fly swatter upstairs to get a fly in her room. When she was done she comes down and gives me "the whacking thing that gets flies".

You Know You're a Bad Parent When...

We were in Blockbuster tonight picking out a movie for Dean and I. Katie is wandering along looking at all the movies on the shelves. Suddenly, she runs to me all excited "Mommy, the Tangled princess movie!!! I want that one!". Say, what? Since when does she know about 'Tangled'?? The Dean shows her a poster for the movie and asks her what the title says. "Tangled" says Katie. Huh.

Apparently, we let her watch far too much TV. When we were staying in Saskatoon, she had access to the Disney channel and I guess they were advertising! I won't worry too much about it. At least she got to pick her very first rented movie.

The Evolution of Crawling

Jacob has been attempting to crawl for the last couple months. I guess he just isn't as motivated as some kids are. Here we see him getting his knees under himself and he was able to rock on hands and knees. This was the end of February. When he tried going forward, he would plop on his face. I guess that would de-motivate most of us!

Finally, in April, he seems to have found his motivation - electronics!! He has a seemingly endless fascination with getting those cords. Same thing if he is in the office. You set him down, give him a toy and he quickly zeros in on the thing he shouldn't touch. Can we say TROUBLE??
